Downtown Redevelopment Project

Project Overview

Part of an all encompassing plan intended to revitalize, and refocus Owensboro's downtown riverfront, enhancing public access to the riverfront and increasing residential, recreation, festival and tourist opportunities in the vicinity.

Smothers Park

Project Overview

Named after Bill Smothers, who is known as the first settler in Owensboro, Smothers Park was part of a multi-million dollar riverfront upgrade. The expanded park features a playground, multiple fountains, concession stand, picnic areas, pavilions, waterfall, and multiple riverfront swings. Smothers Park was named the top playground in the world in 2015 by Landscape Architect's Network.

Germantown Park

Project Overview

A 2 acre neighborhood park featuring a playground, walking trail and gazebo.


Project Scope

BEi prepared a Final Development Plan, including erosion control plans, drainage report, sanitary sewer extension, waterline extension, design layout and grading of parking lot and walking trail. BEi also provided construction staking services.

Edge Ice Center

Project Overview

Known as "the coolest place in town", the Edge Ice Center is the only municipally owned ice rink in the state of Kentucky.

Harsh Ditch

Project Overview

Design of public storm drainage systems for Harsh ditch including 20,000 feet of stream.


Project Scope

Project provided the capacity to remove 60 acres of watershed from combined sewers.
